Sight and Sound
- an immersive audio/visual experience interlacing the musical arts with the visual dynamics of the VJ. This party will attempt to capture the interplay between sight and sound as the video artists present a visual translation of the music. Each musical act will be paired up with a VJ for the duration of that set. Live performance painter J. Garcia will be work with D7's Ben Sheppee incorporating a live feed of his performance painting into the video mix. Also featuring sculpture by Robert Newell.

SFStation recently said: "As usual, visionary music leads the way into fresh, untested directions of cultural synthesis. If you want a deep immersion into the latest local artistic underground, dive into the currents of San Francisco's Lowpro Lounge."

This party will be at a very hip new venue called Mighty at 119 Utah Street & 15th. That's two blocks from 16th Street and Potrero, in the Mission/Potrero Hill area, and is accessed by the 33 and 22 bus lines. Click HERE for maps.

James Christopher (Lowpro) with Audio Angel + video by Control Machine (Lowpro)

Video lineup:

Nathan Janos:
Visual innovator who co-developed the EJ Midi Turntable for scratching live video and Lowpro Lounges VJ resident, Nathan will be pushing pixels on the video screen, literally.

Control Machine:
He's an Emmy award winner and no doubt, Sacramento's brightest projection hero. Control Machine is a ten-year veteran producer who brings liquid light to every dancefloor.

VJ Culture:
World renown light artist and video maven Grant Davis is one of the Bay Area's hot visual talents. Founder of Dimension 7 production group, Grant plays locally and internationally with artists such as Alex Gray, and also throws the SF video events Video Salon and Video Riot, both meccas of high tech video innovation.

VJ Ben Sheppee:
Light based artist Sheppee will be mixing video from the artists featured on the Lightrhythm Visuals label, as well as his own cutting edge material. Sheppee is a die-hard video producer who brings the pain regularly with lavish original graphics and introspective chromatic narratives. He performs nationwide on behalf of Dimension 7.

J. Garcia:

Performance painter who has painted worldwide on stage with top level bands. J. is working very closely with Ben Sheppee to film the performance painting, and not only incorporate it into the video feed, but also manipulate the footage and project it back onto the canvas he is painting.

Robert Newell:

Rob's expert skills with interior design and floral design have been very evident at the Lowpro Lounge for the past two years. Also very active in sculpture and stage design, Robert has created stage setups for Sound Tribe Sector 9, and was commissioned to build a sculpture for the Stanford Linear Accelerator. For this event, he will be creating sculptures that utilize the video feeds from the VJ booth.

Music lineup:

Majitope:
Majitope will be opening the night with an ultra-smooth blend of house with a breaks influence and tracks with a distinctly musical energy.

Frequency 3:
This guitar-DJ-drummer three piece brings high energy house and breaks with a rock edge. They have worked with George Clinton, The Hardkiss brothers, and Spearhead.

DJ James Christopher:
A resident DJ at Atlanta's D&B weekly "Sessions". Chris moved to San Francisco in the winter of 2000. Since then he has founded the Lowpro Lounge and has performed with members of Sound Tribe Sector 9, the Santa Cruz Hemp All Stars, and Particle. Chris's Drum & Bass band Rootscience features Z. Velmer, D. Murphy of Sector 9 and SF diva Audio Angel. His other projects include ZIN, Camp, and Warondrums.

Audio Angel:
Without question, The DIVA of San Francisco drum and bass. Working as a voice-over artist and singing on tracks with producers like Noel of Phunckateck, Rasa and Rice and Nova Productions, this woman has made a name for herself, not simply as a lyricist or an MC but as a singer. She performed with James Christopher in the jungle band Rootscience, and has recorded and performed with Sound Tribe Sector 9 regularly. Sweetly layering her voice with the drum and bass sound you question whether the vocals you are hearing are the sounds of an Angel or already on the tracks.

BLVD:
An airtight three-piece of guitar, bass, and drums, BLVD blazes a fiery trail through the hills and valleys of an evolving improvisational soundscape. This young band's uncanny precision, lightning-quick timing, and jam-friendly intuition come together to create some of the most infectious organic electronica to ever take over a dancefloor. Add in hypnotic feedback loops and beguiling sonic effects, and you've got a dynamic mix of breakbeat, house, and dub that carries dancers into uncharted territory and keeps them there all night. A perfect addition to the Lowpro musical family, BLVD is definitely a band on the move.

Spesh:
Dj veteran of 15 years, Spesh co-founded Loöq Records in 1998. In addition to releasing the music of label founders Jondi & Spesh and Lasse Loöq, Loöq records seeks out the best underground talent (locally and internationally) . Each release is promoted to the top dj's in the world and has received fantastic feedback (current Loöq fans include John Digweed, Sasha, Anthony Pappa, Lee Burridge, Cass, Nick Warren, and Jerry Bonham to name just a few).
